About Me

I am a former secondary education teacher, with a style that’s innovative and individualized about learning, which led me to the business world. I have held various roles as a people leader, project manager as well as a strategic innovator. Outside of my corporate world, I like to use my intrinsic curiosity to follow my passion for using innovative ways to solve problems. My philosophy is that education should be about finding a way to help all students learn, no matter their learning style or abilities. Technology is the way to solve that problem, so I like to spend my free time helping educators to do just that. Check out my portfolio page for some great examples!

I went from Michigan State University to New York City and then to where I am now, Chicago! I love this town because it's city, but my area is also very neighborly even though it's 2 blocks from Michigan Avenue. I am currently obsessed with my furry family as I recently adopted a dog, Wicket, (my own personal Ewok) to pester my rescued cat, Madmardigan.

Now, we're working on helping the siblings to be friends! (As you can see from this video, there's a lot of barking and hissing and not much playing yet! But with these faces, I can ignore the craziness that now consumes my home.

I enjoy trying new things, and during the summer of 2009, I decided to channel my inner "George Costanza". I dedicated that summer to the "Summer of Cara" where I tried any activity that I was invited to do, but had never tried. I experienced an amazing summer resulting in shark fishing in Key West Florida, bike riding the perimeter of Manhattan for the non-profit Computers for Youth, kayaking, white water rafting, rifle shooting, surfing, hiking, wine tasting in Long Island New York, sky diving and finished up with a snorkeling trip to Aruba! I highly recommend that you try your own "summer" some time, and ENJOY IT!!  Life is too short. Just make sure the bungee cords aren't!
